On Monday, May 12, 2025, weisenburger bau GmbH, together with the “Baugenossenschaft Speyer eG” (GBS Speyer) and GeRo GmbH, celebrated the topping-out ceremony for the first two apartment buildings with a total of 49 residential units in the "Ludwigsgarten" project on Rabensteinerweg in Speyer.
This event marks an important milestone in a comprehensive new construction project comprising six apartment buildings with 93 residential units and 17 terraced houses with an underground garage. The development includes a total living space of around 10,000 square meters and is complemented by shared spaces such as private roads, playgrounds, and underground parking. The project is being built to meet the KfW Efficiency House 55 standard (GEG 2020).
The construction is supported by KfW grants and funding from the state of Rhineland-Palatinate, which is investing a total of around €350 million in the creation of affordable housing. The project is part of the “Alliance for Affordable Housing and Construction” in Rhineland-Palatinate, which has been working on housing market solutions since 2015 under the leadership of the Ministry of Finance and Construction and in cooperation with over 20 institutions.
At the topping-out ceremony, weisenburger bau GmbH and its project partners welcomed Minister President Alexander Schweitzer and Mayor Stefanie Seiler, among others. In his speech, Schweitzer emphasized the social responsibility of creating affordable housing through sustainable construction projects like "Ludwigsgarten."
A special highlight of the event was the traditional topping-out speech – a symbolic act marking the successful completion of the structural work.
weisenburger thanks all project partners for their dedicated and trusting collaboration and looks forward to the next steps in the "Ludwigsgarten" project.
