The groundbreaking ceremony for the Donatus Quarter in Pulheim-Brauweiler took place on Monday, 8 September 2025, marking the start of a pioneering inclusive housing project in the Rhein-Erft district.

weisenburger is carrying out the project as the general contractor on behalf of Bauen für Menschen GmbH (BfM).

Prominent guests such as Mayor Frank Keppeler, District Administrator Frank Rock, and Dr Jürgen Rüttgers, former Minister-President of North Rhine-Westphalia, emphasised the social significance of the endeavour. Frank Boss (BfM) highlighted the project’s role as a model development.

On the approximately 13,650 square metre site, eight detached, three-storey residential buildings will be constructed, connected by a central underground car park. The plan includes 63 barrier-free residential units designed for various stages of life – from young people and families to older adults – as well as four inclusive living groups for people with and without disabilities. A large proportion of the flats will be wheelchair accessible. Sustainability is ensured through green roofs and photovoltaic systems installed on the buildings.

“With the Donatus Quarter, we are creating inclusive housing and are delighted to launch this important project together with our partners,” said Matthias Ryzlewicz, Managing Director of weisenburger bau GmbH.
