weisenburger bau is creating 71 new care spaces in Freiburg city centre

Freiburg – weisenburger bau is constructing a new care home in the centre of Freiburg for the Freiburg Evangelical Foundation. The development includes 71 individual rooms and five assisted living apartments. The new development is an extension of the "Haus Schloßberg" care facility on Hermannstraße close to the Schlossbergring.

This new construction is needed because of the requirement for individual rooms set out by the national building regulation governing care homes. The number of beds in the current "Haus Schloßberg" will thus be reduced from 92 to 56. The planned new build will have 71 new individual rooms and five assisted living apartments.

Two buildings that are owned by the Freiburg Evangelical Foundation will be knocked down for the new build. The demolition work is expected to start in February next year and should take around three months. The planned new build will have four stories. The assisted living apartments will be located on the top floor, while the individual rooms for the care home will be located in the floors underneath. A standard room will be about 15 square metres and have its own bathroom.

The Freiburg Evangelical Foundation has estimated the construction costs at more than 11 million euros. The first residents are expected to move into the new build in the first half of 2022.
