On 8 November 2024, the foundation stone was ceremoniously laid for a special construction project on Bexbacher Strasse in Ludwigshafen. Around 50 invited guests celebrated the official starting signal for the construction of 46 residential units in modular construction.
The event began with a welcome address by Mr Rohatyn, followed by words of welcome from the local mayor. Dean Geiger blessed the building project before Mr Ryzlewicz emphasised the importance of the project. After the symbolic laying of the foundation stone, Mr Schmitt led the way to a communal meal, which rounded off the festive occasion.
The project, realised by weisenburger bau GmbH for Gemeinnützige Siedlungswerk Speyer (GSW), comprises 46 barrier-free residential units, including 2- to 4-room flats and 22 flats specially designed for senior citizens. Each unit is equipped with a balcony or terrace, while a photovoltaic system ensures a sustainable energy supply. An outdoor playground offers additional added value for families.
By using standardised planning modules in this project, living space is not only implemented efficiently but also economically, thus enabling affordable living.
